Seeking alternative front forks that are compatible with 1995 model TRX850 triple clamps, front wheel set etc. Eg replacement forks. Appreciate any advice.

Also loads of folks have done different forks, have a look through the forum and try doing a search

In a word `THUNDERCAT`. They are the only ones of the same diameter I know of. Kayla, any more?

You need a couple of small spacers but other than that the thundercat forks go straight in and you'll need the thundercat mudguard as well. FZR600R (fake USD looking) forks go straight in as well, and I think the very last ones were fully adjustable but the early ones are preload only so in that respect a pair of sorted TRX forks are better*.

in future i thinki might upgrade the forks and would like to use the thundercat ones just wondering if you had any idea what year/model it was with the fully adjustable?

okay thanks have you got any idea which year it is i would need? also does the wheel and speedo go staraight in or need replacing?

From what i understand you can use any year Thundercat forks (don't think they ever changed them) You will need the mudguard and some spacers made up to allow you to fit the TRX wheel/speedo drive.

ahh lovely that made it a bit clearer , as i have never changed a pair of forks on a motorbike i would ahve worries about the setup i know i could do the install i work with machiner all day , its just getting the forks set to the bike i dont think i'd know where to start here

As far as adjusting the forks to the bike goes, it depends how heavy you are and how much messing around you want to do really. I just fitted the thundercat forks to my bike and enjoyed the much less rubbish front end as it came without messing around with springs and oil. I also used a YZF750 front mudguard instead of the awful thundercat one. There's a pic somewhere... here you go-

ahh i feel a bit silly now lol but i think some one said that the early year only had preload so i was wondering which year i shouldnt of got because knowing me id get the wrong ones

sorry to be a pain with all the qustions and such but im wondering if any one has expireance with the progressive springs in the front with a sligty thicker oil is this worth it as it would be cheaper as i can do this,
or would you say just get the thundercats?
also locking through ebay theres not many thundercat forks about

It was the FZR600 forks that only the late ones were adjustable. I've just picked up a set for my bike.
I would try the standard forks first and see how you get on before you look at changing too much.

Thanks, but I was knocked off that one a few years ago and it's now an ex-TRX, RIP The white bodywork/red frame combo is definitely the best/fastest/nicest one though <duck>

Thundercat forks don't come up for sale that often on ebay UK but I think they're more common on ebay US. Make sure you ask the seller for the fork diameter before buying them though, the US thundercats were called the YZF600 (same as the R6 which had 43mm forks, not 41mm. You need 41mm forks) and just to confuse even further, the FZR600R Foxeye (4JH model) with the USD lookalike forks was also called the YZF600 over there. Those crazy Americans!

ahh shit im sorry to hear that its always a shitter when a careless driver ruins somthing specail , i hope you got a nice new one out of it tho spose can be a plus point.
a big thankyou for all the information will be a big help , not saying i have a well paid job i dont but as i dont really have any comitments i plan on spending alot of money on my trx to make her a beut may have to invest in a bigger bed so she can fit

has anyone got the dimentions of the new spacers that i need to make to fit to standard trx wheel
any info would be great
